11D Dayak Kubung and Borneo Orangutan

DAY 01: ARRIVAL JAKARTA
On arrival in Jakarta meet our guide then transfer to hotel for overnight

DAY 02: JAKARTA – PANGKALAN BUN ARRIVAL – KUBUNG DAYAK VILLAGE (B,L,D)
Morning transfer to airport for flight to Pangkalan Bun. Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun Airport, pick up service by our
guide team then transfer to Kubung Dayak Village about 300 km away or about 4 – 5 hours drive. Lunch on the way at
local restaurant.  Along the way you will pass some palm oil and rubber tree plantation area, villager house, beautiful
scenery. You have also time for take a break from long journey for toilet as well as tea or coffee break. Upon arrival in
Kubung Village then check in at local dayak house or long house.  Free time at your own leisure and sight seeing around
the village if you arrive before dark. Dinner prepare by our guide team at the local Dayak house. Stay overnight at local
Dayak house or long house

DAY 03: KUBUNG VILLAGE – BATU BATONGKAT/DAYAK ANCIENT MONUMENT – JUNGLE – KUBUNG VILLAGE (B,L,D)
After breakfast we’re accompanied by our Guide Team including local dayak guide we will walk about 20 minutes away to
the sacred dayak monument called Batu Batongkat (Stick Stone Moument). You will see beautiful scenery on the top of
the stone. Then continue our trek passing the traditional garden, a huge tree, a traditional rice barn, a local dayak house, an old
Kaharingan dayak grave before entering the primary jungle. The trek is challenging and we highly suggest to use the
rubber boots as we will pass some small river, mud, up and down the hill, rock as well as slippery rocks before you reach
beautiful waterfall about 15 meter  high and surrounded by crystal clear water and  dense tropical rain forest of
Borneo. We have lunch here by wrapping traditional lunch. Have time to relax and refresh, you can go swimming in
this cold fresh water pool.  After enjoying the water pools then trek back to the village.  On the way during go or back if
you are lucky you may see flying squirrel, black  monkey, Horn Bill or other exotic flora and fauna. Our guide team also
would be pleased to show you how to survive in the jungle, how to distinguish edible, poisonous or medicinal plants.
If it’s fruit season you may also have time to enjoy the local fruits such as durian, cempedak (bread fruits), or even enjoy
how the locals collect the jungle honey (seasonal). Back to the Kubung Village for dinner and overnight at local Dayak
House or at long house. In the evening after dinner you have time to join in our “Bagondang” or “Horn Bill Dance”
ceremony while the local dayak people will blessing you with welcome ritual ceremony called “ikat akar tongang”
/sacred Dayak bracelet for our good blessing during our trip. You have time for dancing with the local dayak that
considered you part of their big family. Stay overnight at local Dayak house or at long house or guest house near the
village

DAY 04: KUBUNG VILLAGE   – PANGKALAN BUN (B,L,D)
After breakfast then you have time to visit the local primary school (in the working days Monday – Saturday/subject to
change with or without prior notice), sightseeing around the village to see ritual sacred place to start the ceremony, old
Hindu kaharingan grave, rice barns, big trees, local handy crafts such as traditional basket, traditional machete called “
Mandau”, etc before going down to Pangkalan Bun. We will have lunch at local restaurant. On the way to Pangkalan Bun
you have time for another break before dipping at the water of Sei Setonga crystal clear water. You have time for swimming
or refreshing at this cold fresh crystal clear water river. Then continue drive to Pangkalan Bun. Upon arrival in Pangkalan
Bun  check in at Blue kecunung Hotel or similar hotel

DAY 05: PANGKALAN BUN – KUMAI – TANJUNG HARAPAN VILLAGE – TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D)
In the morning you will be picked up by our local staff and take you to Kumai to board on the boat. The boat is a
traditional Klotok wooden river boat size 2,25 m  x 15 m for  5 people and the big one size   3,5 x 19 meter for 8 – 10
people (many past tourists of us call it African Queent river boat style) with a roof which forms the upper deck where
you can view the rain forest as it glides by. The guide’s team includes the boatman, a cook and expert guide. we will
slowly explore the quiet river by the klotok while we observe the monkeys along the riverside. We will have a chance to
stop at First orangutan station Tanjung Harapan for spotting orangutan feeding time. Dinner on the boat  near the Nipah
Palm manghrove tree while spotting FireFlies like Christmas Tree (except there is a full moon will be less fireflies) .

DAY 06: PONDOK TANGGUY – PESALAT (B,L,D)
After Breakfast board to Klotok. Then we slowly cruise down the river to Pondok TanGgui to see feeding time at 9am.
enjoy your time while taking pictures. We then return to Klotok to continue our journey. Fresh and healthy lunch will be
served on Klotok. After lunch we proceed to Pesalat camp. Here you will be hiking up on the board walk for 800 Meters
and 200 meters you will walk on the ground. In this camp you will have chance to plant endemic fruit trees for
orangutan and this is also the carbon offset program. This program supports the national park to replanting the trees
around the ex-forest fire areas and to spread up the fruit trees for the animals in this park. When the tree grows up, the
trees will do photosynthesis. From this process the tree will produce the Oxygen, and the Oxygen is the payment to all
the Carbon we produce in our whole life (payment of the carbon). Return to Klotok. Enjoy the afternoon coffee break
while observing the wildlife. Dinner on Klotok Boat and Overnight at Rimba Lodge

DAY 07: PONDOK AMBUNG – CAMP LEAKEY (B,L,D)
An early wakeup call by the sound of birds and proboscis monkey or in a local name called Bekantan. Enjoy your
breakfast while we cruise down the river to the famous Camp Leakey. En route, we stop in Pondok Ambung. Pondok
Ambung is a tropical forest research station where you will encounter some species of butterflies. Then we
continue to Camp Leakey to see Orangutan feeding time at 1pm. At Camp Leakey you will have opportunity to trek into
the rain forest with your expert guide and the forestry rangers to appreciate the flora as well as perhaps sighting wild
orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. Lunch provided on boat. Afternoon we visit the feeding station to see
rehabilitate orangutans are given additional foods. We will then sail back down the river to overnight on the boat. After
dinner, we will go trekking into the forest for 2 hours to see the nocturnal animals like Tarsiers, tarantulas, etc. Dinner on
Klotok Boat and Overnight at Rimba Lodge

DAY 08: TANJUNG PUTTING NATIONAL PARK – TANJUNG KELUANG (B,L,D)
After breakfast we go boating down to Tanjung Keluang Beach.   On arrival in Tanjung Keluang, sight seeing around the
beach area while spotting some kind of birds. Enjoy your leisure. In the late of afternoon you could see the turtle project
and if you want you could adopt the baby turtle (adoption will charge on your own budget). Dinner on board and in the
evening join the ranger patrol to spotting turtles lay their egg (if you’re lucky)

DAY 09: TANJUNG KELUANG – BULUH KECIL – PANGKALAN BUN (B,L)
After breakfast, Depending on the water tide continue the trip cross to Sungai Buluh Kecil by Motor Boat Canoe or Speed
boat to spot more birds. It will take 2.30 hours to reach Sungai Buluh Kecil. On arrival in Sungai Buluh Kecil you will
see the natural biodiversity. Here you will be passing the Nipah Palm area, you might see some king fisher, heron, green
pigeon, etc. in the afternoon visit orangutan feeding in Kerikil Camp. Then back down and overnight in Ranger House.
Dinner in the ranger House.

DAY 10: PANGKALAN BUN – JAKARTA (B)
Transfer to airport for flight to Jakarta. Arrival in Jakarta transfer to Hotel for overnight
