Budva is a coastal city on the Adriatic coast in Montenegro. This city dates back 3,450 years ago and is one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic Sea. The area around the city, along the coast, is called Budvanska Riviera. The Riviera is the center of Montenegrin tourism, known for its sandy beaches and night life, the area of hotels and restaurants that separates the beautiful coast from high mountains. The name Old Town, Budva was worn in the Middle Ages, and most of the architecture of this city was of Venetian origin. Doors, windows, balconies and many other parts of the building are of Roman style. Budva has a large number of cultural and historical monuments, monasteries and churches that document the historical and social events in the area of the Budvanska Riviera. Among the most famous churches are the church of San Giovanni, built in the seventh century, the church of Santa Maria ‘in Punta’ from 840, the church of the Holy Trinity from 1804. The most famous part of the city walls is called Citadela and is an interesting tourist attraction. The city abounds in beautiful beaches of which the most famous are: Mogren, Slovenska, Bečići, Jaz… Today Budva is a tourist center, a monumental resort, a city theater and a prestigious town on the tourist map of Europe and the world. Kolašin is a town in the north of Montenegro, 72 km away from Podgorica. It was founded in 1651 by the Turks as a fortification and a caravan station from the coast to the north. It extends in the upper and middle courses of the Tara and Morača rivers. It is surrounded on all sides by mountain peaks and ridges of Sinjajevina, Bjelasica, Komovi and Vučje. For mountaineers and tourists, the peaks of these mountains are especially attractive: the most famous Jablanov vrh (2203 m) on Sinjajevina, Troglava Bjelasica (2075 m) and Zekova Glava (2116 m), then Komovi (2484 m). Kolašin is at 954 m above sea level and offers excellent holidays in winter and summer. In Bjelasica there is a well-known ski resort just a few kilometers from the city. Many people call this city an aerial spa due to the height and extraordinary climatic conditions. There is a unique botanical garden in Kolašin, which is a true treasure of flora of the continental part of Montenegro. A special attraction for tourists is the National Park Biogradska Gora, located in the north-east of Montenegro, between rivers Tara and Lim in the central part of the mountain Bjelasica. It is the first declared national park in Montenegro in 1952 and it occupies an area of 5650 ha. His protection dates back to 1878, when this area was given to the lord of Montenegro Prince Nikola Petrović, and it has since become the ‘Knjažev zabran’ – ‘Prince’s reserve’. Biogradska gora simply captures its pure beauty. Surrounded by mountain heights, centuries-old forests and meadows, sprinkled with streams and coves, decorated with beautiful lakes, is a magnificent gift of nature. Green is dominated by a combination of unique forest ecosystem and meadow vegetation areas. The most important natural value of this national park is the rainforest of Biogradska gora, which covers an area of 1600 hectares. It is one of the last trees in Europe and has the character of a strictly protected reservation.

In the heart of the forest there is a beautiful Biogradsko lake, the largest and most famous of many glacier parks in the area of the national park. It is located at an altitude of 1094 m. In clean water on the lake, all the beauty of the ancient forest is reflected, giving it a blue-green color and creating a special landscape for the visitors. Ice forms of relief, such as peaks high and over 2,000 meters and glacier waves with several fairytale glacier lakes, give this region unparalleled beauty.

The rich flora and fauna of the National park Biogradska gora made it very interesting and attractive to many scientists, scientific observations and studies, as well as sightseeing tours and visits of nature lovers.

Kuči is a name for area and the tribe, one of the mountain tribes that formed the state of Montenegro in 19th century.

In the past, the inhabitants of these areas were mainly engaged in cattle breeding and living a semi-nomad lifestyle, so it is very interesting to visit this area and hear about the customs and history of this mountain tribe. It i located 40 km from Podgorica. In this region it is not rare to see wild horses.

Mrtvica canyon is located 35 km from Kolašin in the direction of Podgorica, in the village of Međuriječje. The hidden beneath the mountain of Maganik, about 9 km long, it is a real jewel of untouched nature. It is one of the most beautiful canyons of the former Yugoslavia.

The small river Mrtvica springs on Trebješ mountain, and after 15km of flow it descends in the area of Međuriječje. It flows into the largest Montenegrin river Morača.

Durmitor is a mountain and national park in Montenegro. It is believed that the name Durmitor originates from the Celtic word that means ”a mountain full of water”. Durmitor, which, by its beauty and integrity is rare and authentic part of nature, was declared a national park in 1952. Located in the northwest of Montenegro, the park includes the main Durmitor massif with the Tara, Draga and Sušica canyons and the upper part of the canyon valley of Komarnica, occupying an area of 39,000 ha.

Bobotov kuk 2.523 meters high is the highest peak of Durmitor mountain massif.

Many ornaments of the park beside the lakes, rivers, canyons, rich flora and fauna, contributed that Durmitor represents exceptional natural value and lasting inspiration of scientists and nature lovers.

Bjelasica is a mountain located in the heart of Montenegro, in the central-continental part, and thus it is evenly branched in four directions and in fact has a shape of a circle. Its length and width is 30 kilometers. The surface is about 630 km². The boundaries are two large rivers, Lim and Tara, and the northern Ljuboviđa and Lepenica. It belongs to the municipalities of Kolašin, Mojkovac, Bijelo Polje, Berane and Andrijevica.

The Bjelasica Mountain is characterized by three specificities and important comparative advantages: very easy passage and accessibility to the highest mountain peaks, great wealth of the forest fund and wealth of flowing water. The mountain has a very good potential for skiing, and it also has a well-known Montenegrin ski resort “Jezerine”.

Bjelasica is in difference of other mountains in the region of volcanic origin, so hence, green summers, and white winters. It is abundant with streams and rivers, of which perhaps the most important and most beautiful Biogradska River, which flows into the pearl of this mountain Biogradsko lake.

The highest peak of Bjelasica is the Crna glava (Black Head), 2,139 meters high.

However, what this mountain knows most about is its fairytale lakes. There are even 6. The most attractive and most visited is Biogradsko Lake, located in the heart of Biogradska Gora, one of the three remaining hills in Europe.

Lovćen is a mountain in Montenegro. It is located in the southwestern part of the country and extends to the Adriatic Sea.

The two largest peaks of the mountain are Štirovnik (1749 m) and Jezerski vrh – Lake peak (1657 m).

At Lovćen, at Lake peak there is a mausoleum of bishop and writer Peter II Petrović Njegoš in which he is buried. On the mountain there is the National Park Lovćen.

On Lovćen there are 1158 plant species, of which there are 4 endemic species.

The most imposing monument of the National Park Lovćen is Njegoš’s mausoleum, built at Lake peak, a place that this prominent poet and thinker even chose an eternal rest for life.

Lovćen is not only a mountain, Lovćen is a holy place that every Montenegrin or their guest experiences as a holy. Something like Olympus is for old Greeks or Mount Ararat for Armenians.

The top of the mountain is a special experience as well as climbing countless stairs to Njegoš’s mausoleum, terrace, sightseeing… The legend says that the Montenegrin king outsmarted the Turkish sultan seeking freedom and independence for Montenegro. Then he explained to the sultan that Montenegro is all the territory that is covered by the view from the top of Lovćen… Sultan, thinking that from the top of that mountain there can’t be viewed a large territory, he made a promise to the Montenegrin king, and only later realized how the king outsmarted him…

Kurt Hasert, the German geographer, wrote: ‘The whole of Montenegro lay in front of us like on some relief map. Here the sun was played by the moving Boka waves, the surface of Skadar Lake glittered, and the blue Adriatic disappeared on the horizon. In the wild, the Albanian Alps and the coastline of Rumija rose up. The eye wandered through the endless series of chains and valleys, while in the background snow-covered spikes of Durmitor and Komovi sent the last greetings. Podgorica is rising from the green plain. I could hardly get out of a powerful picture.’

Vrmac is a mountain and peninsula in Montenegro. The highest peak of this mountain is St. Ilija – 785 m above sea level. Vrmac is a continuation of the mountain Lovćen, and towards the west it ends with the strait of the Verige. It is located between Kotor and Tivat bay, so it is not difficult to assume that during this tour you will have a wonderful view of the magnificent Boka Bay. Vrmac in the past had a great strategic significance because it was border through the Verige, between the Ottoman Empire and the Venetian Republic, and so today there are traces of fortification objects, built for the defense of the borders.  It is a tunnel broke through Vrmac, 1.637 meters long, connecting Kotor with the Adriatic Highway and the rest of Montenegro.
