Introduction

The cuisine featured on this tour is, as usual, a highlight. Dine-in flawless Michelin Starred locales along with rustic, mom and pop trattorias. The restaurant’s features on this Italian Gourmet Tour are hand-selected to show you the best Tuscany has to offer. On this tour, you’ll taste vintage Brunello di Montalcino, “Super Tuscan” wines such as Petra and classic Chiantis from Radda. Delicious local dishes may include
“Pappardelle di Lepre” (pappardelle pasta cooked with hare) and wild boar cured sausage (“Prosciutto di Cinghiale”). The most famous Tuscan dish is the “Bistecca Alla Fiorentina”, a huge T-Bone Tuscan steak usually big enough for two.

And, to finish off any proper Tuscan meal, perhaps while you are dining al fresco at one of the gorgeous hotels included in this tour, you must try the “Cantucci eVin Santo” (Macaroons and “holy wine”). Divine! The tour begins and ends in Florence, and is a private deluxe tour. You’ll spend your
first nights in Florence, home to Michelangelo, the Medici and some of the most beautiful architecture in the world. Dine at Cibreo, Florence’s hottest restaurant for Foodies. From Florence, you’ll travel through the scenic wine country of Chianti Classico, quintessential Tuscany. Cypress lined narrow roads and medieval hill topped wine villages are the classic images of Chianti, very photogenic. You’ll visit top producers such as Badiaa Coltibuono (whose winery is one of the most beautiful in Italy).

Next on this fantastic wine tour is a visit to the exquisite Tuscan town of Siena, famed for its medieval Palio, the zebra-striped duomo and its “holy wine” (Vin Santo)  served with cantucci. From Siena, you will visit Montalcino and Montepulciano (to top Brunello and Vino Nobile producers) and you’ll sleep in a luxurious castle located at the top of a hill with dramatic views of the valley beneath. From Montalcino, you will spend two
nights in a luxurious villa in the wild Maremma, home to Italy’s famed “Super Tuscan Wines”. Savour amazing wines and enjoy some incredible meals in this lovely, quite undiscovered area of Tuscany. Your tour will conclude back in Florence, and you will leave Italy with many gourmet gifts and memories to last a lifetime.
